Diabetes mellitus and functional impairment

Diabetics are more likely to suffer functional impairment than are non-diabetics. A study of almost 150 persons showed that those with diabetes mellitus were more likely to have cardiovascular and/or locomotor morbidity, resulting in reduced daily functioning. (Family Practice 16(2)133-139, 1999)
