Gout, vitamin C

Higher intake of vitamin C reduces the risk of gout in men according to a report from the University of British Columbia. Men who had a vitamin C intake of more than 1500 mg/day had the lowest risk of gout in this 20-year study.

The authors carried out this study after earlier studies showed that vitamin C intake increased serum uric acid excretion.
